The fascination of lacquer surfaces at O&S 2012 – Stand D77, Hall 9
11.05.2012|O&S in Stuttgart, the international trade fair for surface treatments and coatings, once again features prominently on the Berlac AG exhibition calendar this year. Over a stand area of 36 m2, the manufacturer will be presenting its complete range of products for component suppliers and for companies from a variety of different sectors that do their own coating in-house, thus underlining its unique and comprehensive expertise in the production of premium-quality coatings.
New products and refinements
There will be a broad palette of applications on display, including a good many new products and refinements of tried-and-tested classics. The focus will be on the wide range of possible design approaches using a combination of coating technologies, such as lacquer on electroplating or PVD-metallisation/lacquering, together with ultra-resistant, brilliant matt-chrome surfaces with a 100% lacquer structure. Other important products include economical single-coat UV high-gloss clear lacquers with a piano-lacquer appearance, ultra-resistant water-based single-coat UV silver and highly-flexible screen-printing lacquers suitable for subsequent deep-drawing and stamping.
Fair highlight:
Black-chrome look on electroplated plastic surfaces for top-quality automotive applications.
A brilliant outlook is assured by a recently-launched combination coating process using electroplating and lacquer to create a black-chrome effect. Dark shades of this kind with high-gloss chromed plastic surfaces provide a suitable means of individualising automotive interiors and enhance visual and tactile impact. Electroplating alone cannot currently generate dark shades of colour that offer processing and colour stability with good wear resistance. It is only by means of a highly-complex and sophisticated finish using individually-coloured clear lacquers – as either primers or topcoats – that such fashionable shades can be produced on a chrome plated substrate.
At the beginning of 2012, Berlac launched a combination coating process using electroplating and lacquering to create a black-chrome look, which it had developed in close cooperation with a number of leading suppliers of automotive components. This coating method meets the stringent requirements of automobile interior applications and will soon be approved for use in demanding exterior insert functions with various leading OEMs. In developing this process, Berlac was able to call upon decades of experience in creating coating solutions for electroplated substrates in the spectacle frame sector.
The sales team at Berlac AG is looking forward to an exciting discussion with our customers and other interested parties at our Stand D77 in Hall 9 at O&S in Stuttgart from 12 to 14 June 2012.
